대수는 어떻게 조합적 구조를 바라보는가

조합론은 쉽게 이야기해서 이산적인 구조를 세는 학문이지만, 단순히 개수를 세는 것에 그치지 않고 대상의 구조를 대수적인 대상으로 옮겨서 생각하면 새로운 도구와 시각을 얻을 수 있습니다.

이 세미나에서는 같은 조합적 대상이라도 얼마나 풍부한 대수적 틀 위에 올려놓느냐에 따라 활용할 수 있는 도구가 달라지고, 물을 수 있는 질문의 깊이도 달라짐을 몇 가지 예시를 통해 살펴봅니다.

Abstract

"Don't count it. Transform it."

Put simply, combinatorics is the study of counting discrete structures. But if we go beyond merely counting them and translate their structure into algebraic objects, we gain new tools and perspectives.

In this seminar, we examine several examples to see how the tools available to us, as well as the depth of the questions we can ask, change depending on how rich an algebraic framework we use to represent the same combinatorial object.
